Weekend Scholarship Watch June 6th

Amount: $1,500; number of awards varies.

Eligibility: DFW-specific / Texas-specific. Open to U.S. citizens or legal residents who are high school seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA entering college in Fall 2026 (or current undergrads) and who are accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program.

Requirements: Completed scholarship application with required attachments; selection considers academics, activities/work experience, essay, recommendations, neatness, and accomplishments.

Deadline: June 15, 2026


Amount: Winner gets $1,000 and 2 runner-ups get $500 each.

Eligibility: Graduating high school senior, accepted to an accredited college/university, and have an immediate family member (parent/guardian) impacted by breast cancer.

Requirements: 500–750 word reflection essay and a 100–200 word community/character/goals essay. Deadline: June 15, 2026


Amount: $1,500; 3 awards available.

Eligibility: High school seniors may be eligible if you will be enrolled at an accredited HBCU for the coming school year passionate about organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Requirements: Online form/application materials; winners must organize an organ/eye/tissue donation advocacy event by the end of the fall semester, attend a virtual networking session in July, and a virtual awards ceremony in January.

Deadline: June 15, 2026.


Amount: 3 awards of $500

Eligibility: Open nationally. A Texas high school senior can apply if you are 16+ and officially accepted for Fall 2026 into an accredited college or university program in an eligible field such as construction, engineering technology, HVAC, business management, environmental, finance, renewable energy, and related areas. Requirements: Proof of enrollment, a 500-word essay, and a 1–3 minute video summarizing your essay that you post on social media and link in the application.

Deadline: June 15, 2026.


Amount: 3 scholarships worth $1,800

Eligibility: High school graduates entering a full-time engineering-related postsecondary program in Fall 2026.

Requirements: 700-word technical essay, a project proposal on disaster-response/climate-related automation, proof of enrollment, and a recent photo.

Deadline: June 15, 2026.


Amount: 3 scholarships of $1,000 each.

Eligibility: 17+ U.S. citizen/permanent resident, with an agriculture background and enrolled or committed to an agriculture-related degree/career.

Requirements: Proof of and a 500-word essay about your agricultural experience, career goals, work ethic/leadership, and passion for agriculture.

Deadline: June 15, 2026.


Amount: $1,000 for 1 winner.

Eligibility: Texas-specific. Any high school senior in Texas may apply; the scholarship is intended to honor students who make a positive impact in their school/community, with roots in East Harris County. Requirements: A 300–500 word essay about a service project, volunteer effort, or personal action that made a positive difference.

Deadline: June 18, 2026


Amount: $10,000 for first winner, $5,000 for second winner

Eligibility: Prospective undergraduate students and the child of a parent with ALS whos family is facing financial hardship.

Requirements: Essay responses about how ALS has affected your educational journey, how the scholarship would help, and what ALS-related groups/charities you’re involved with.

Deadline: June 18, 2026


9.      Big Sun Scholarship

Amount: $500.

Eligibility: Open nationally, including Texas students. Must be a high school senior (or postsecondary student) who is a student athlete in any sport.

Requirements: A 500–1,000 word essay answering how sports influenced you, your career goals, and your relationship with your family; include your name and school.

Deadline: June 19, 2026.
