Weekend Scholarship Watch August 8th

1. Kenyada Me'Chon Thomas Legacy Scholarship

   Amount: $500 each for 2 winners ($1,000 total)  

   Eligibility: BIPOC high school seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA; no regional restriction stated 

   Requirements: 400–600-word essay reflecting on a potential setback that became a catalyst for taking charge

   Deadline: August 10, 2026

2. NSHSS Scholarships 

   Amount: Varies by program; NSHSS and its partners offer more than $2.5 million annually 

   Eligibility: High school and college students; grade level, subject, international eligibility, and membership requirements vary by scholarship 

   Requirements: Applications typically require an essay, resume, transcript, headshot, and educator recommendation; scholarship-specific requirements vary 

   Deadline: Varies by scholarship; programs open and close throughout the year 

3. Emerging Leaders Scholarship 

   Amount: $1,000 

   Eligibility: Open to all applicants, including high school seniors; Honor Society membership or payment is not required 

   Requirements: Submit an online application, a description of your leadership experience, an essay of up to 500 words connecting leadership to your major, life, or goals, and a current transcript; recipients must provide an official transcript and be willing to give a testimonial 

   Deadline: August 14, 2026

4. HPFY Beyond Disability Scholarship 

   Amount: $1,000 

   Eligibility: High school seniors with a documented disability who plan to attend a U.S. two- or four-year college, university, or technical college; full-time or part-time enrollment is permitted 

   Requirements: Email personal information, proof of enrollment or a recent transcript, medical documentation, and an essay of at least 500 words about disability-related trials and triumphs; supporting documents or recommendations are optional 

   Deadline: August 15, 2026

5. HPFY Make a Difference Scholarship 

   Amount: $1,000 for 1 winner  

   Eligibility: High school seniors accepted to a U.S. accredited college, university, or technical college; applicants must enroll full-time, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and document 100 community-service hours completed within two years 

   Requirements: Email personal information, a transcript or GPA statement, volunteer-hour documentation, and an essay of at least 500 words about a favorite community-service project and how it changed your life; supporting documents or recommendations are optional 

   Deadline: August 15, 2026 

6. 2026 Conquering Childhood Cancer Scholarship 

   Amount: $1,000

   Eligibility: U.S. legal residents diagnosed with childhood cancer who are in good academic standing and are enrolled in, accepted to, or planning to attend an accredited U.S. postsecondary institution

   Requirements: Email a 750–1,000-word essay about how childhood cancer shaped your outlook on life, education, and future goals, plus a current resume and transcript; include proof of enrollment or acceptance if applicable 

   Deadline: August 15, 2026

7. 2026 Saavedra & Perez Law Scholarship: Challenges and Resilience 

   Amount: $1,000

   Eligibility: High school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA who are accepted to an accredited U.S. undergraduate or community-college program; undocumented students and DACA recipients may apply

   Requirements: Email a 1,000-word essay about immigrant families’ challenges and resilience, a resume, transcript, and college acceptance letter; all documents must be PDFs with the required filenames

   Deadline: August 15, 2026 

8. Zicklin Contracting Restoration Awareness Scholarship 

   Amount: $1,000 

   Eligibility: High school seniors in the United States or Canada who are enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college, university, or institute 

   Requirements: Submit a response explaining how an integrated restoration plan can address structural recovery, water and fire resilience, HPD-violation compliance, sustainable renovation, and affordability; current response format and length are unknown 

   Deadline: August 15, 2026

9. Race to Inspire Scholarship 

   Amount: $500 

   Eligibility: High school seniors and other students who can verify enrollment at an accredited U.S. college or university for Fall 2026 and have participated in a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or marathon 

   Requirements: Email a 1,000–2,000-word essay explaining what inspired you to run, the challenges you faced, and what you learned; use “Race to Inspire – Scholarship” as the subject line; the winner must provide enrollment verification 

   Deadline: August 15, 2026
