College

Readiness

All FLP high school students, grades 9-12, participate in a summer College Readiness Workshop. This week-long camp provides students with academic counseling, leadership development training, and opportunities for community volunteerism.

The FLP provides upperclassmen with one-on-one college counseling. Students take part in specialized classes that assist them with the college admissions and enrollment process, as well as college entrance exams.

The FLP periodically sponsors educational trips for its students. In May 2022, 19 FLP high school students earned an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City. Students attended the finals of the Brewer Foundation/NYU International Public Policy Forum (a high school debate competition), took part in a college tour of NYU, and visited many other attractions.

FLP alumni are graduates of many elite colleges and universities, including New York University, Colby College, Yale University, Pomona College, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Southern Methodist University, and Texas Christian University.

The FLP has a 100% high school graduation rate. Between 2009 and 2022, of 247 FLP seniors, 75% were accepted into a four-year university, college, or community college. The Class of 2022 FLP graduates received more than $200,000 in scholarships.
